Cantabile no longer receives MIDI from my Launchkey

I’m using Cantabile 4.0 in trial mode until 28/8.
My setup is as follows:

  • An RD-800 connected via MIDI to a Steinberg UR-22. The UR-22 is connected via USB to my PC.
  • A Novation Launchkey 61 connected via USB to my PC.

Yesterday, I was able to use both keyboards in Cantabile.
Today, a Windows update was installed.
I don’t know if it’s related, but now the Novation keyboard no longer affects the Cantabile session.
I closed Cantabile and opened Ableton, and both keyboards work immediately (RD-800 via UR-22 and Novation Launchkey).

I reinstalled the latest available drivers, but it didn’t change anything.
Do you have any idea what might be causing the issue?

Hi GVBLA and Welcome to the Forum!

Go to the Tools>Options>MIDI Ports and in the list of connections find your MIDI controller or other device that is not working ..

e.g.

and select it and open it and check to see if the Port got corrupted by the Windows update. USB port enumeration is rather strange on MS Windows. Usually there is a port selected but it reads as not connected. There will also be a port for the same device that is not checked. Uncheck the box for the port not connected and check the port that is unchecked and it should fix the issue.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your quick response and for the tip for next time. I uninstalled the devices and drivers (using Revo Uninstaller). I then disconnected the Launchkey and restarted the PC. I reconnected it and, without reinstalling anything, Cantabile recognised the Launchkey. Thanks to your advice, next time I won’t have to uninstall everything. Great! Thanks again.
