Cantabile 4 Build 4357 Bug or Compatibility Issue

I am going through the steps of setting up Cantabile 4 V4357 on a WIn10 box that I use exclusively for VSTs. Over the years I have accumulated some great VSTs. They are 32bit. This machine will run these VSTs all day long as configured, using a different VST host package.

I have come across some newer-to-me instruments that are either labelled as 64bit or VST3. I need a different host than what I have been using, so I decided to install Cantabile.

Here’s the bug portion… VST: Usual Suspects JE-8086 (JP8000 Emulator).
Any selected patch seems to play fine. That is until I use the mouse over the VSTs GUI. The second I do that and for as long as the mouse is moving the audio stutters. The Cantabile system monitor shows heavy CPU utilization. I have the same JE-8086 files installed on my DAW PC and loaded up through Studio One 6; it does not stutter there. Other VSTs that are detected by Cantabile do not exhibit this same behaviour. This may be something very unique to this VST and Cantabile. When I exit out of this host and open the other one all those plugins work properly, JE8086 is not supported by that host so I cant make a direct comparison.

I haven’t tried the Nord emulator by the same people yet.

Hi @Gtrshop,

and welcome to the forum!

I have tried to reproduce your problem using the JE-8086 VST3 on Cantabile V4335. I have no stutter on my system when I move the mouse over the GUI. Even if I move the sliders or the knobs, no problems.
The time load is relatively high (around 75%, peaking at almost 100 % when I move the knobs) but the audio is ok.
I have tested it on a laptop: Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 10
CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-1255U, 1700 Mhz

I am on Windows 11.

First, you could try version 4335 of Cantabile and test if the problem is still there. This could be of help to understand if the problem is actually related to Cantabile.

Hope this helps,
