Can I turn off some notes on my keyboard by sending a midi message? I have a Clavia Nordwave. I would like to turn off some keys when loading a song.
I doubt the Clavia supports that itself, but you can check its sysex spec. One way would be to turn local off on the keyboard, and play the Nord as a MIDI controller into Cantabile, which then filters notes as required, before passing the resulting MIDI back out to the Nord to play. The downside is that it would introduce some latency, which you might notice when playing. Worth a try though.

By “turn off” do we mean send note off messages to stop held notes from sounding or disable keys so that they won’t sound even when being played?

For that, you’ll need to do as I suggest above, I think. Do the MIDI splitting in Cantabile.
