Anyone still running 32-bit?

Perfectly agree :+1:

Thank you @brad !

There’s a 32-bit version of Cantabile?? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Odd . . I’m setting up a new computer, and the Cantabile shortcut was to the 32-bit version, which caused me no small confusion until I noticed it didn’t like VST3s . . .

The installer creates two shortcuts - one for 32, one for 64. The 32-bit version does support VST 3 - but they need to be 32-bit VST3s.

I have a couple of old 32-bit plugins that have been end of life for many years. The automatic jBridging is convenient, but it’s not a big deal for me if I have to bridge them manually.

No 32 bit for me - neither plug ins or the app itself.

Cantabile 4300 is now available. It drops support for Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 32-bit (x86). jBridge should still work.

Running nicely here.

Any idea when 4300 will be christened “stable”? I’m itching to try out the midi panic options but typically don’t upgrade until stable.

Hi @easteelreath

I’m just waiting to hear back from one customer about an issue that should be already resolved. In the meantime, it’s at least as stable as the current stable build and will probably be marked stable very soon.

You can always give it a go, and if causing issues, revert to the current stable version.

I am running it with no identified issues

Same here.

I hadn’t seen this before. Yes, I still run the 32 bit version of Cantabile, to host 32 bit plugins, and the 64 bit one for 64 bit plugins. Bridging seems like an extra layer of complication to do the same thing.

Hi @AndyHornBlower

Unfortunately, as of build 4300, the 32-bit version has been dropped. x64 can still use jBridge to load 32-bit plugins, but if you really want 32-bit version of Cantabile you’ll need to use an older build.

Quick question… Can the last stable 32-bit be kept available on a PC while the 64-bit progresses with updates? Seems like I read the new 64-bit removes the 32-bit.

Hi @Brad,

Yes, that’s my plan. I guess I’m not the main target audience for Cantabile, and the version I have probably already does all I need. I’ve been on build 4062 for a while.

I’ve been curious what features have been added since then that would work on the Solo license I have and am gathering that there might not be any. The last major thing that affected me was adding VST3 support, I think. I’m not complaining, but there doesn’t seem to be any incentive for me to renew.

I do wonder if the forum members are a representative sample of customers in general, so polling us might not provide much insight. I suppose if you sent out a questionnaire, the people who took the time to respond might not be all that representative either though.

Correct - the installer will remove any previously installed 32-bit version in the default install location.

To work around this, just use the 4000 series x86 .zip package, extract it somewhere non-standard and you can have both versions at the same time.

Definitely Performer tends to get more new stuff than the other editions but you can view the full list of changes in the release notes.
