Anybody have Arturia V collection X?

I can get it for $150 until Dec 10th. Just wondering if its a CPU hog, what the instruments are like. Looking at CP70, DX7, among others.

I have V collection 9 - I use about half of the plugins, in particular for 80s band (e.g. Jupiter 8, cs80, dx). Some are ok I guess (b3), and piano v is unusable :grinning:. I can get upgrade to x for £80, so thinking about it.

That is a good price, and when you think about it that is ~$4 per VST in the collection.

Now of course a collection this big is going to have things you use and do not use according to taste, but even if you only used 25% of it works out about ~$10 per instrument, so still a bargain.

Each of the indivudual VSTs will have its own performance demands, and I have never noticed a problem until the new Elka Synthex emulation, which sounds gorgeous but has patches that tax even my DAW beast of a processor - but it is a new addition and I am hoping they get their code optimisers to work on that!

I also have V collection 9 and find it useful. Many of the synths I only use ever once in a while, but enjoy having them ready when I need them. There are a few instruments in the collection that there are not duplicated by another million emulations. The instruments I use the most are the Synclavier (which is very low on CPU btw), Emulator, and Fairlight. I also really like their Rhodes (I know many folks hate it, but the basic setting sounds and feels like an actual Rhodes to me - and I do have a real Rhodes). Their EMS and Buchla are also really fun.

A long-time user - V Collection X is great.

The CP70 seems good - not had a physical one so can’t tell you how accurate, but from my perspective it does seem to have the feel. The DX7 is also good and I’ve used that in a number of my tracks - again never had a physical one, so can’t comment on level of accuracy, but the sounds (and presets) are good and you can even load original SYSX patches with it.

Many of the instruments in V Collection are “go-to” synths for my work, including the Roland’s, the Moogs, the Buchla, the EMS, the Synclavier (amongst others).
The new Augmented (sampling plus synth) range included are also interesting but they can be CPU hogs (although these also seem to be getting better over time).

Thanks guys for all your input. Ordered V Collection X last night. Having trouble getting it registered; hopefully Arturia support will not drag their heels…

Thanks again for your input!

I’m late to the party but V Collection X is my go to suite.
As far as resource hogs the only ones I notice with heavy cpu usage is “Analog Lab” which you shouldn’t use as every vst in it is available as stand alone and the “Augmented” series of sounds.
Overall I would rate V collection X a 9/10
