Adding an Audio Loop Recorder to Cantabile Live Host for $10

I’ve been testing this for a couple of weeks. Waverley Instruments has a LOOPREC module for Cherry Audio Voltage Modular that does loop recording, overdubs, etc. Just like a looper pedal. What I’ve done is mapped my MIDI foot switch with one button to start/stop and one button to clear. I have a Voltage Modular “stereo looper” patch that’s just two instances of the looper modular (L/R channels). Since the MIDI control mapping is the same, you can easily keep multiple instances of the looper in-sync. I just tested 4 tracks, and it worked great.
Voltage Modular Nucleus is free. The LOOPREC module is $10. In Cantabile I just take the output of whatever plugin and send that to a Voltage Modular effects patch (the stereo looper) then that goes to the main outs, etc. If you want to loop record different instruments separately, just use multiple instances of the Voltage Modular effects patch. Since you can overdub, that might not be necessary unless you need separate level controls of the loops that are playing.
I did a video where you can see all this, but it unfortunately had no sound, lol. I’ll take another swing at it later.
I’ve been using the looper module in several recent videos on my channel, usually in Voltage Modular. But it works great in Cantabile and the advantage there is you can route each MIDI input to a different instrument that way (e.g. keyboard, wind controller, foot switch, etc.).

In the beginning of my live stream, I was using the LOOPREC modules in Voltage Modular…I’ll have to do some more videos running it in Cantabile, because it works fantastic.
