A tough move toward the (semi)real stuff

Hi there

Thinking about my youthful dreams…

But not all dreams are the same: some have some chance of coming true, others don’t

Did I dream of being a multi-instrumentalist like Mike Oldfield?
Yes, but it was unrealistic then, as it is today

Did I dream of being a genius like Jan Anderson, who learned to play the flute in one afternoon ?
Yes, but it was unrealistic then as it is today

Today the situation is not different: in fact, it is worse because at my age there is less desire/ability to practice and study, so?

Let’s simplify: the accompaniment will be made by automatic plugins

After, I’ll do the piano/organ solos using my hands-on, and the same with a real guitar that I will buy later (maybe)

If I’ll succeed, I’ll keep playing with both keyboard and guitar
If I fail with the keyboard, I’ll keep the guitar
If I fail to play anything, I come back to listen the masters

So here is my new current set:
I have all the needed tools, so I don’t have to spend further money for this test, and I am selling the other plugins on KnobCloud

Scaler 2 to drive automatically the accompaniment guitar (MusicLab LP), the drums (Jamstix) and the keyboards (pianoTeq)

pianoTeq for pianoforte and electric pianos solos

Sampleson CollaB3 V2 for Hammond solos

MusicLab LP for guitar solos, waiting for a real guitar that will come later

Cantabile as a host for the whole stuff

I set a rack with the accompaniment instruments (Jamstix, EZBass and pianoTeq) and their effects

I reinstalled EZbass because the bass of the MusicLab guitar is not so enticing

they are all synced and I can change their patterns live in a sort-of arranger

Another rack with the solo instruments (Colla3B, pianoTeq, and MusicLab LP) and their effects

Tonight I had a lot of fun doing solos with Colla3B 2 and one electric piano
Tomorrow I’ll try the guitar

And I think a real guitar will come soon

Talking to yourself? :grimacing:

If you mean the title, moving toward the semi-real stuff, I am certainly talking to myself, BUT also to people, and I know a few, that love Cantabile even if they use plugins only, and even if they don’t play live for an audience

Or, maybe I didn’t get what you meant

No hidden meanings at all.

Thanks for confirmation

I translate English every day, but it is plain English in the medical field, so I am always afraid to misunderstanding the Cantabile forumians

I looked at all the available topics, but didn’t find one titled “Journal”.

Well, no problem
I can delete the whole thing, if needed

Joking… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Sorry, I missed it

The problem in this forum is that I still don’t understand the sentiment of “real musicians” towards bad-room producers (bad is not a typo )

I had sometimes the impression that “bad-room producers” are not considered well here, and my post was a sort-of confirmation that I have more or less the same sentiment now, after having spent about 6 years making music with plugins only, trying to compose with tricks like Scaler

I found eventually and actually that it kills my creativity and fun, and this is why I decided to stop using tricks, apart the accompaniment stuff, where I have zero chances to build it manually

There is a possibility that I stop making music once and for all anyway: in this case I have a huge MP3 library to enjoy myself, included an album found recently and called Ritratto Libero by Chiave di Volta

Anyway, CollaB3 V2 is too much simple
I think I’ll try Blue3
