VST2 vs VST3 pro and con

Hi. New to Cantabile!. So far looking good…
When i load my VST (Arturia V-Collection) i can select VST2 or VST3.
Which is best to use?
What are pros and cons for each one when used in the Cantabile environment?
If looking to have as many VSTs running as ppossible, which of the two will give best performance?

There’s no correct answer to this and it depends on the plugin. However I will say this:

Cantabile’s VST 2 support is much more established and stable. If the plugin is available in VST 2 and it does everything you need, use it.

Cantabile’s VST 3 support is newer, but important because more and more plugin developers will be moving in this direction now that VST 2 has been officially deprecated by Steinberg. If a plugin is available as VST 3 please consider trying it and reporting any issues.

TL;DR: VST2 = probably more stable. VST3 = important going forward.

I posted VST 3 advantages in this thread:

I have done zero research on VST3 - that’s the first I’ve learned of what’s new and better about it.

Conclusion:
Use VST3, it will be better performance.
If problem, use VST2 and report to Brad to drive Cantabile forward.
