Suggestion : video in media player

Since I’m using this feature in reaper, i love it for live performance. I also use dmx lights controller.
So maybe you could integrate vlc media player?
Or otherwise, does there exist a vst for playing video?

Ok I’ve found this, let’s try it out

Definitely am interested in what you find out. Please keep us posted!

(No time to experiment this week for me, or I’d be in there with you!)

Alternatively, why not start VLC media player with a binding (target: external script). This could allow you to simply start video playback of a certain file on loading a song or on starting playback or even on the touch of a button. Of course, advanced features like pausing or looping may require some fiddling - not so easy via command line.

But if you simply want to launch video clips from Cantabile, this should do the trick.

That’s a good idea  So launch manually?
But you can’t launch it from the Song or State, correct?

I’m using video in Reaper all the time. It uses VLC.
Check my site www.theXperience.be
(That’s my commercial for today  )

Yes, you can launch it from song state: create a new binding like this

Not sure how you can avoid opening a new vlc window instead of launching the vid within an existing one, but I’m sure there is a way. Or use a macro script to simply close the existing vlc window when exiting the song?

I’m using this mechanism for break music with the Foobar2000 audio player, which is easy to control via command line. Music automatically starts when opening the “break music” song and automatically ends when moving to the next song.

Cheers,

Torsten
