I’m currently testing out the demo version of Cantabile Peformer with a view to replacing my current NI Kore live setup. It seems like almost the perfect replacement for me with better preset management via sub sessions. I am very close to buying it.
However, what I would like to do is to set up one rack as an insert effect and vary the send volume between subsessions via the partial send function. For example, I use a global reverb plugin for all instruments and would like to vary the send amount of a particular instrument to the reverb between subsessions. At the moment Cantabile doesn’t seem to remember my changes when I save a subsession.
Am I missing something - is there a different way to do this? Alternatively, will this be possible in v3?
The settings that are controlled by sub-sessions are called “sub-session behaviours” and can be changed by right clicking on the item in question and choosing the “Sub-sesion Behaviour” menu. Turn on Partial Send 1 or 2 and it should respond to sub-session changes.
Thanks for taking the time to respond, and so quickly! Apologies if it was already in the manual somewhere - I’m still getting my head around the structure of Cantabile.
I like the Cantabile way of doing this - in Kore I had no choice what was saved between presets (sub sessions), which is frustrating because that includes patch volumes for everything - not helpful when playing live to have a sudden volume change between presets just because I had to turn the master volume down when foldback was too loud!
It’s nice to see a piece of software that is both functional and well supported! I spent far too long looking at Ableton, Bitwig etc. I’m a long time DAW user but it’s just too much trouble to set up for them up for live use when all I want to do is switch between different synth sounds and splits! I have now replicated in Cantabile almost all the functionality of my current Kore setup, but more flexibly.
