Not just Brits- weren’t they Scottish?
That might have explained their spunky nature and to be honest @FredProgGH all the people in Canada that I met who came from the British Isles be them English, Irish, Welsh or Scot were usually very proud of their heritage so my apologies for not pointing out that they are indeed from Scotland. They are also still (for now) British.
