Would like to trigger samples in Cantabile but not a loop guru and simply want add simple samples as SFX… no need for beat matching etc.
Just need a low latency sampler that can record and basic edit samples, and bind them to keyboard notes or control surfaces for tiggering
Off line licensing is a must.
Any ideas?
Try Sforzando it might do the job.
Bless ya. I’ll give it a peek
TX16w is very complete and works like a charm. Simple to use
FWIW I use some SFX in several songs, and I found it’s faster and easier to just use media players. Just go into your DAW, create the MP3 clip, and you’re done. I have a footpedal so I just use a button, and it works well even for very short effects… best example is the tremelo guitar bit on Money, which repeats often and is relatively short. Some songs like that will have 2 or 3 media players just for EFX. I also use sforzando for actual pitch-based instruments as Dave suggested, it’s probably the best I’ve tried, especially at switching sample sets quickly (tip: create a Rack State for each instrument/sample set, and uncheck all the left column options for Plugin State Behavior). I love TX16w for it’s editing capability, but it couldn’t get it to be consistently stable for gigging.

That would be my recommendation as well if you have very simple sample playback needs. It is all I do.
If you want to use a plugin, Sitala is the gold standard for free (well, PWYW) drag & drop drum machine style software. Sitala - Drum Sampler Plugin
