Input Indicator port light is red?

Can anyone advise why this is so? I only have one MIDI input device enabled

Red or orange? (subtle I know).

Normally this lights up like this if the connected device is sending MIDI Active Sense messages.

Try turning off the connected device and see if it turns off. This would indicate the PC’s MIDI port is still up and running but the connected keyboard has disappeared.

Loved that article! Ah, yes - Roland’s “nervous” devices a’plenty! I know of no others that send Active Sense messages.

Cool, thanks Brad - that explains it. It is a Roland board and it does run active sensing - I have tried to get into the MIDI setup in the past to stop it but it seems it cannot be…it always comes back haha!
