Can this be done?

I’m not sure if this can be done, but here goes:

I’m using a Novation Impulse 61 keyboard along with Cantabile 3. If I associate CC25 on the Impulse with the volume of a plugin and save the preset in Cantabile, it will of course remember that volume setting the next time I open that song. This is fine but what would be even better would be if the digital read-out on the Impulse matched the volume number which I originally saved in that song’s set up. But it doesn’t “update” that reading. To clarify, if I set CC25 to “90”, then move to a different song setup and change the value of CC25 to 127, then when I go back to the previous song, the value remains as 127 rather than changing to 90.

Does this make sense, and is what I’m trying to achieve possible? I’ve also posted on the Novation forum as well- but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to post here too.

Hi Lee,

Not supported at the moment, but covered by this: MIDI Feedback Support. Basically it’s the opposite of MIDI controller assignments - ability to assign an internal value to an external MIDI CC so that external devices can reflect those internally changed values.

Related to this is also MIDI Assignment Jump Prevention which prevents large jumps when moving a mismatch source controller.

that feature would be awesome and would definitely improve the functionality of my song setups. By the way, the “Midi Feedback Support” link doesn’t go anywhere.
