A cool mini monitor I found

Figured I’d share this, but I really like this little monitor. Frees up my laptop to run Ableton. I am using the HDMI out to have Ableton on Display 1 and the mini display is the extended containing Cantablie, all on the same laptop. That’s my dog Molly.

That looks great! What make/model is the monitor?

And how is it mounted? I’ve been looking for the same kind of thing.

The item is a Kuman 7 Inch HD Display 1024x600 TFT LCD Screen Monitor for Raspberry Pi 3 3 2B B RPi 1 B+ A+ with HDMI VGA Input, DVD VCR Car with Remote HDMI Cable SC7J which is 61 USD. It is not mounted but placed on top of the keyboard, and stays there quite securely. I had to use a 90 degree HDMI adapter to prevent the HDMI sticking out of the side. I adhered the feet (very messy, sorry) with the stuff in the picture because the adhesive on the feet is not strong enough to keep them there permanently. The rise from the feet keeps it from touching any buttons. Rubber feet are at any hardware store and are about 1/2" x 1/2" and about 1/3" high (don’t trust me on the measurements). You have to be careful to get the HDMI adapter with the 90 on the “long side.” I love this setup. I was going to purchase a Yamaha Montage 8 but an older Motif 8 (which is a fantastic and very diverse controller and backup if VST goes down) opens the door for a better laptop and VST instruments for an overall lower price.

This is what I’m using - Beetronics are specialists in small monitors.

I’m using their mounting stand - simply pasted some adhesive velcro to it with the counterpart on my master keyboard. Works perfectly as my “side mirror” - I display the show notes view on it in really large type, so I always know where I am in my show…

This is what things look like on stage - the small monitor simply sits on the right side of my rig, so it doesn’t get in the way.

(the laptop is normally closed during the gig - I’ve set it so it doesn’t shut down on closing the lid).

Beetronics also have relatively affordable touch screens (USB + HDMI) in small sizes - too fiddly for me, but may be useful for sume of us,

I’m liking $60 better  Don’t really need a touch screen, luckily.

Is that the infamous “Big Red Button” to the right of the tablet that you use to cycle through states with?
I’m not certain I ever asked what that was (model, where to buy, etc.)

See here - it’s called the AbleNet Specs Switch - it’s originally built for people with disabilities, so it needs to be easy to press, but without false triggers.

Horribly expensive ($65 / 59€), but the best I’ve found - low profile, good to trigger anywhere on its surface, just 100g of trigger pressure, and easy to connect with a 3.5->6.35 adapter.

BTW: if you have more space on your master keyboard, there are even bigger buttons available from AbleNet: the JellyBean is 63mm and the BigRed 130mm in diameter - you can go completely crazy if you want!

I’m happy with my SpecsSwitch, since it fits perfecly between the buttons on my Kurz…

At the risk of sounding very disrespectful (because I’m not trying to be) I’d be sorely tempted to take a cue from the kid in the picture on their website and put the button on a tall stand so I could smack it with my head

A Jimmy Carr fan? I am. He has a joke at which many would like to laugh, but don’t.

I read your post while I was driving (I know it’s wrong to do that), but I got a strange look from another driver at a stop light when I was cracking up over your post.
