I discovered something that may be of interest. I was experiencing difficulty loading set lists. They would start but hang up and freeze before any racks were loaded. I had to use the control alt delete to close it. I thought perhaps that one of the songs in the set was bad so I kept messing around trying different songs and reloading midi files into the set list. I would get it to load now and then but it always malfunctioned eventually. To make this short, I FINALLY discovered that the fault was with the file storage medium. I had my set lists, midi files and songs saved on a 64MB Sony SD card (rated 40mbs). When I moved the files to my hard drive, the problem finally disappeared. I was quite perplexed and imagined being in a live situation, not being able to get the list to load. I’m really not sure if it’s just this specific sd card, or whether they are all just not up to this task but I don’t need to use the sd slot, so I’m not going to anymore.

That’s very interesting. I can’t think of anything peculiar in Cantabile that would cause this, nor should a slow device lead to an eventual hang.
If you’re up to experimenting with this some more, could you reproduce the problem and then while it’s frozen capture a process dump for me? See this post for details on how to do that.
